Travelers income rises

The Travelers Cos. Inc. reported a net income of $1.25 billion and $1.86 per diluted share in the second quarter, ahead of the $970 million and $1.36 per diluted share at the same time last year. The favorable numbers were supported by $83 million in net investment income and $58 million for the resolution of federal tax issues.
