Hartford Travelers Cos. executive Robert Flynn, has been elected Chairman of the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau (GHCVB). He replaces John J. Patrick Jr., who completed his term this summer.
Flynn, a South Windsor resident who is vice president of strategic marketing at Travelers, succeeds Farmington banker John J. Patrick Jr., who completed his term this summer.
“Bob Flynn has been a great supporter of the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau and our work to bring conventions and major sporting events to our region,” said Acting GHCVB President Michael Van Parys. “His extensive knowledge in strategic marketing is a great asset as we intensify our efforts to sell our region and its appealing resources.”
A former CIA intelligence officer, Flynn has an MBA from UConn, a master’s degree in international affairs from Tufts University, and a bachelors degree from Trinity College.
The bureau works with the Hartford area’s businesses, institutions, nonprofit organizations to market the region as a premier destination for national, regional and statewide conventions.
