The Travelers Cos. Inc. said it has completed its $1.1 billion acquisition of The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company.
Travelers, which has major Hartford operations, purchased the Toronto company from E-L Financial Corp Ltd. to strengthen its presence in Canada.
The newly named Travelers Canada will remain in Toronto and will be led by Brigid Murphy, president and CEO of The Dominion.
The deal was first announced in June.
