The Travelers Championship in Cromwell is not only the lone PGA Tour event in the Northeast, it now has been voted as the Best PGA Tour Tournament in the nation.
The tournament, held annually at the TPC River Highlands, has won Newsweek magazine’s Fans’ Choice Award, besting PGA Tour events that included The Masters in Augusta, Georgia; the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California; the U.S. Open in Oakmont, Pennsylvania; and The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Newsweek said the nominees were selected from among nominations by a panel of journalists and sports fans, with the list of finalists determined by the magazine’s editors.
The contest was announced in June, with fans able to vote once per day through Aug. 20. You can view the final results here.
“This is wonderful recognition for the tournament, which has established itself as one of the best weeks in golf,” said Andy Bessette, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Travelers.
The 2025 Travelers Championship was a PGA Tour Signature Event, with a $20 million purse and the best field in tournament history, featuring the top 15 players and 45 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
New England native Keegan Bradley birdied the final hole to win by one stroke and become the eighth player in tournament history to win the event more than once. He also won in 2023.
Since 2007, when Travelers became the title sponsor, the tournament has attracted hundreds of thousands of fans each year and generated more than $35 million for over 1,000 nonprofits across the region, donating 100% of its net proceeds to charity. This year’s event raised more than $4 million for 215 charities, both tournament records.
The 2026 tournament is scheduled to be held June 25-28.
