Travelers Championship to retain ‘signature’ status in 2025

The Travelers Championship will retain its elevated status next year, guaranteeing it a field of top golfers.

The PGA Tour this week announced its 2025 schedule, which includes 39 tournaments. The Travelers Championship, played at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, will take place June 16-22. It will once again follow the U.S. Open, one of the four majors on the PGA Tour.

There will only be eight elevated or “signature” events on the Tour next season, which will feature limited fields comprised of top-ranked golfers and a bigger prize purse. The Travelers Championship will be televised on CBS, the GOLF Network, ESPN+ and SXM, according to the PGA Tour.

This past June, World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 Travelers Championship and the tournament’s $3.6 million first place purse. Players competed for a $20 million prize pool.

Meantime, tournament host Travelers Inc. announced that this year’s event raised more than $3.2 million for about 170 nonprofits in the region. That brings the total amount generated for charities to more than $30 million since Travelers became title sponsor in 2007.
