The Travelers Cos., which has operations in Hartford, issued its first annual consumer risk survey, which found that 63 percent of Americans think the world is getting riskier.
The insurer partnered with Hart Research to issue the first edition of its Consumer Risk Index, which it plans to conduct annually.
Hart surveyed 806 adults across the country between May 20 and June 2 to identify consumers’ biggest risk concerns.
The top five concerns cited were financial risks, identify theft, health problems, personal safety and extreme weather.
Of those surveyed, 84 percent said they were concerned about distracted driving, while 70 percent thought extreme weather events have become more common.
