A longtime, family-run travel agency based in Fairfield County will move its Shelton office to Orange after purchasing a building at 564 Racebrook Road for $545,000.
Traveland bought the 3,037-square-foot building on 1.5 acres from local real estate agent Frank D’Ostilio. It has been used as a real estate office for decades, most recently by Coldwell Banker Real Estate.
The 40-year-old travel agency, which also has an office in Bridgeport, is moving to accommodate growth in its group travel division, said Tamir Battat of Woodbridge, who owns the business with his brothers, Eitan and Oded.
“We’ve been in the Shelton office for 30 years. It’s large, but it’s not large enough to accommodate all the growth,” he said.
Built in 1942, the landmark building, known for its gazebo and flagpole, was remodeled in 2003 and includes three private offices, conference rooms, a reception area and large work area, said Real Living Wareck D’Ostilio Real Estate, which represented the seller. Hodson Realty of Trumbull represented Traveland.
Battat expects a July grand opening after completing some interior renovations.
