A Westport salesman has pleaded guilty to participating in a scheme to inflate the prices that customers paid for garbage service in Connecticut and New York.
Anthony Luciano pleaded guilty in New Haven federal court to conspiring to violate the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. The 50-year-old was a salesman at Automated Waste Disposal.
Prosecutors say he participated in a conspiracy to deny three Danbury businesses fair pricing for garbage removal.
He is one of 33 people and 10 businesses charged in the scheme to drive up prices by stifling competition.
Luciano faces 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced November 6.
