Transportation, logistics services provider plans Southington expansion

The Pyle Corp., a transportation and logistics services company, has gained approval for expansion plans at the Aircraft Road distribution facility in Southington.

The town Planning and Zoning approved plans that include building and parking additions to the existing facility at 87, 149 and 185 Aircraft Road near West Queen Street and the Quinnipiac River.

Plans call for more than 35,000 square feet of new construction, including a new 16,477-square-foot maintenance building, a new 10,140-square-foot terminal expansion for 22 new truck docks, and a proposed renovation of an existing 8,500-square-foot maintenance area for 18 new docks.

Also included in the plans is a new, multi-level, 23,789-square-foot parking deck over existing parking areas.

The West Chester, Pennsylvania-based Pyle Corp. has multiple A. Duie Pyle company locations throughout the Northeast and provides transportation and logistics services in the southeast, midwest, west coast and Canada. 

The family-owned business started in 1924 and now has distribution capacities at 27 service centers and 18 warehouse facilities with more than 4.4 million square feet of space.
