TransAct renews deal with largest customer

Hamden printer manufacturer TransAct Technologies said it has renewed its sales agreement with its largest customer, GTech Corp., through 2019.

Financial terms of the agreement with the Italy-based company provider of software, network and transaction processing services for gaming and lottery operators, were not disclosed. GTech has an operating headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island.

One aspect of the new agreement that’s different is that TransAct will be allowed to sell its thermal online lottery printers to other customers, and GTech will be allowed to buy printers from other manufacturers.

A prior agreement between the two, signed in 2009, required GTech to purchase all of its printers exclusively from TransAct, and that TransAct sell the printers solely to GTech, according to filings with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.

GTech has been a TransAct customer since 1995, and purchased more than $8 million worth of equipment from the company last year, represented 16 percent of TransAct’s sales, according to filings.

GTech, owned by Italy’s Lottomattica, last year acquired slot-machine maker International Game Technology for $6.4 billion.
