Tractor Supply to replace former Simsbury bowling alley

Developers will raze a building on Route 202 in Simsbury that formerly housed a bowling alley and laser tag business to make room for a Tractor Supply Store.

MACK V Development of West Hartford received planning approvals earlier this year and will begin developing the store, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2022.

The building at 1603 Hopmeadow St. was home to Blue Fox Rock and Bowl.

MACK V, headed by Mike D’Addabbo, former president and CEO of New England Realty Properties of Wethersfield, was formed earlier this year to focus almost exclusively on new ground-up retail development with an emphasis on Tractor Supply stores.

MACK V is also developing retail projects in Litchfield as well as in Vermont, New Hampshire and on Long Island.

D’Addabbo has been working with Tractor Supply since 2005 to develop sites for new stores.

The retailer has been building between 80 and 100 new locations a year for the past several years. It had 1,955 stores in 49 states by the end of June 2021.

Despite the pandemic’s impact on retailers, D’Addabbo said value-oriented stores like Tractor Supply are succeeding and growing.

Tractor Supply bills itself as the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the U.S., targeting the needs of recreational farmers, ranchers and those who enjoy a rural lifestyle.
