The Connecticut Technical High School System opened its second E-House learning facility at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in Torrington.
The E-House initiative is meant to augment schools’ green curriculums by providing a hands-on facility for learning about sustainable construction, clean energy, and energy efficiency.
The state’s first E-House opened in September at E.C. Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain. The state, in partnership with the Energize Connecticut initiative, wants to build an E-House at all 17 technical high schools by the end of 2015.
Torrington’s E-House was built by faculty and students with supplies funded by Energize Connecticut, a joint initiative from the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, the Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority, and electric and natural gas utilities.
