Torrington Machinist Firm Expanding

Specialty machinist BNB Manufacturing plans a $700,000, 13,200-square-foot addition to its production plant at 200 Price Road in Winsted, officials said.

BNB will use the addition for storing stainless steel, titanium, metal alloys and forgings used to produce fan blades, vanes and other machined components for aircraft and power-generation customers, said BNB’s engineering chief Tony Nanni, whose father started the business in 1978.

The new addition also will house a five-ton bridge crane for hoisting raw materials.

Nanni said construction is scheduled to begin before year end, with completion set for next spring.

BNB has 20,000 square feet of production space and 5,000 square feet of offices in the Winsted Industrial Park, he said.

Borghesi Building & Engineering Co. Inc. in Torrington is the building contractor.

Habco Plans Expansion

The owner of Glastonbury manufacturer Habco Inc. recently paid $2.4 million for property at 172 Oak St. for an expansion.

Sentry Commercial, which represented the buyer, said Investors Capital Ltd., Habco’s principal, plan to expand from the existing 15,000-square-foot facility to a new 50,000-square-foot building.

Habco designs and manufactures ground support equipment and test stands for military and commercial aircraft.

The partnership purchased the property from Glastonbury Storage LLC.

 

Blake Buys 12 Acres

Blake Equipment Co. in Bloomfield recently paid $1.02 million for a 14,300-square-foot industrial building on a 12-acre tract on 4 New Park Road in East Windsor.

The maker and distributor of pumps, pump systems and boilers plans to move to its new quarters from leased space in Bloomfield by the first of next year, said Sentry Commercial broker Mark Duclos, who represented Blake in the transaction.

Blake purchased the property from Nancy and Carol Pronovost.

 

Better Bedding Leases

East Hartford bedding retailer Better Bedding has leased approximately 12,800 square feet of warehouse and office space for a new headquarters at 265 Prestige Park Road, up the street from its current home.

Better Bedding will vacate 130 Prestige Park Road and move into space sublet from CECO Doors by the end of the year.

Sentry Commercial represented CECO Doors and was the sole broker in the transaction.

The Cozy Corner Bake Shoppe has leased 1,800 square feet of retail space in Country Commons at 183 Route 81 in Killingworth.

The landlord is 183 Route 81 LLC.

The Cozy Corner expects to open before year end to serve Scandinavian, European, and American baked goods made completely from scratch.

Barry Stratton of The Geenty Group, Realtors, in Branford, was the sole agent in the transaction.

In East Granby, Energy Beam Sciences has recently renewed its lease at 29 Kripes Road.

Airport Business Center III LLC is the landlord.

According to Sentry Commercial, the sole broker in the lease, EBS has occupied the 6,120-square-foot office and manufacturing space since 2005.

In Branford, Squared Circle Studio LLC has leased 2,500 square feet for a fitness gym at 500 Main St., Unit 10, in Deep River.

The gym will specialize in training boxers and kick-boxers.

The Geenty Group, Realtors, in Branford, was the sole agent in the transaction.

The landlord is The Mislick Family L.P., which also owns a large business and office park adjacent to the Route 9 interchange on Main Street.

In downtown Hartford, property broker Sentry Commercial has renewed its downtown office lease at 750 Main St.

Sentry Commercial has occupied 2,024 square feet in the tower since May 2004.

In Manchester, Good Sports Inc. has renewed its leases at 227 and 349 Progress Drive.

Sentry Commercial represented Good Sports in both leases.
