The urban clothing store EbLens, headquartered in Torrington, is set to close all of its stores this summer.
“We’re doing sales, and stores will close as inventory is sold,” said Steven Victor, senior managing director of DSI Consulting, which has been hired to oversee the liquidation of the chain’s assets.
The company initiated the liquidation process through state law in Delaware, rather than filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Victor said.
EbLens, which was founded in New Britain in 1949, has 17 stores in Connecticut, including Manchester, Wethersfield, East Hartford, Bloomfield, Waterbury, New Britain, Meriden and Milford. It recently closed a store at the Crystal Mall in Waterford.
EbLens has stores in four other states and employs about 500 people, Victor said.
