The Litchfield county community of Torrington has made a list of 25 single-family rental market ‘gems’ compiled by real estate data trackers RealtyTrac and RentRange.
Torrington ranked 19th on the list, which was ranked primarily by gross rental yield — gross annual rental income divided by the purchase price or market value of the property.
Torrington’s gross yield was 9.4 percent. The No. 1 market on the list, Wichita Falls, Texas, had a yield of 13.4 percent.
Torrington was the only New England community to make the list, which was limited to single-family homes with three bedrooms.
RealtyTrac and RentRange said they focused on markets with low percentages of investor sales, which generally means less competition for individual investors from larger buyers.
