An aerospace parts company plans to move from Tolland into a former medical supply factory in Vernon that it has purchased, according to Richard Abo of Colliers, Dow & Condon, who brokered the sale.
The buyer, Soldream Inc., plans to renovate the Vernon building, at 129 Reservoir Road, before moving from its 25,000-square-foot Tolland plant, at 203 Hartford Turnpike. The new, larger plant encompasses 37,500 square feet, according to Abo’s announcement.
Founded in 1992, Soldream is a subcontractor for major aerospace companies and the Defense Department. The company employs 50 workers, according to its Web site.
Its production ranges from “simple component manufacturing to the design, fabrication, and machining of complex assemblies from wide variety of materials, such as high temperature alloys, steel alloys, stainless steels, titanium, aluminum, and many others,” according to its Web site.
According to Soldream general manager Anthony Steullet, “We’re like the old lady in the shoe… We need the space.”
Although the aerospace industry is in the midst of a downturn, he said, that’s sometimes the best time to get ready for the next upswing in business.
