South Windsor second-hand ticket reseller TicketNetwork has withdrawn a defamation lawsuit against Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall Corp. CEO David Fay for comments TicketNetwork alleged Fay made during a 2011 legislative hearing.
TicketNetwork interpreted Fay’s comments as accusing the company of using bots to purchase large quantities of tickets and then reselling them at a marked up price. TicketNetwork sued Fay in April 2011. TicketNetwork denied the allegation, saying it is a marketplace for buyers and seller. And Fay denied ever saying it, the two said Wednesday in a joint statement.
Fay’s alleged comments arose from a 2011 hearing in which legislators were considering a law that would have made it illegal to use ticket-purchasing software and would have required venues to release information about the number of seats available for an event.
The two did not disclose if there would be a financial settlement as a result of the withdrawn suit.
