Three attorneys with the law firm of Murtha Cullina LLP have been named 2020 “New Leaders in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune.
Bridget M. D’Angelo is an associate in the firm’s Business & Finance Department, representing clients in the areas of real estate and commercial financing, assisting them with real estate acquisitions and dispositions, development, leasing, financing and entity formation.
Benjamin H. Nissim is an associate in Murtha’s litigation department and a member of the Insurance Recovery, Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights, and Privacy & Cybersecurity practice groups. He represents clients in complex commercial disputes.
Martha M. Royston is an associate in the litigation department and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice Group. She represents employers in cases including discrimination and retaliation claims; breach of non-compete and restrictive covenants; and wage and hour violations.
The Connecticut Law Tribune will honor the New Leaders in the Law at the annual Connecticut Legal Awards Dinner May 6 in Plantsville.

Vanessa Research, a Hamden-based biomedical company discovering, developing and commercializing products in areas of unmet medical needs, has named Stephen Childs corporate controller effective March 23. Childs most recently served as vice president and chief financial officer for Ivy Biomedical Systems LLC. He also has experience as financial controller in other companies including a 15-year tenure at Bigelow Tea Co. of Fairfield, where he was assistant controller for five years. Childs was graduated from Quinnipiac University and earned a graduate certificate in accounting from the University of New Haven.

Khalilah Brown-Dean of New Haven, associate professor of political science at Quinnipiac University, received the Civic Engagement Award from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s North Atlantic Region at the 89th North Atlantic Regional Conference March 5 at the Connecticut Convention Center. The award is given to a member of the organization who is dedicated to her community and demonstrates proven leadership and a profound commitment to justice and equality. Brown-Dean, who joined the Quinnipiac faculty in 2011, holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in political science from Ohio State University as well as a BA in government from the University of Virginia.
