Three metro Hartford hospitals have been listed as top ranking health care institutions in U.S. News & World Report’s first-ever Best Hospitals metro area rankings.
The new rankings recognize 622 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties. In the metro Hartford region Hartford Hospital, Middletown’s Middlesex Hospital, and The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain were all recognized.
To be ranked in its metro area, a hospital had to score in the top 25 percent among its peers in at least one of 16 medical specialties.
Hartford Hospital was recognized for services in diabetes and endocrinology, geriatrics, gynecology, and five other specialty areas.
Middlesex Hospital was recognized for geriatrics, pulmonology and urology services.
The Hospital of Central Connecticut was recognized for its urology services.
