Three former Sears department store properties at Connecticut malls have been listed for sale, presenting new redevelopment opportunities at some of the state’s largest retail centers.
Atlantic Capital Partners is marketing the vacant former Sears buildings at Brass Mill Center in Waterbury, Meriden Mall and The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in Manchester. The listings do not disclose asking prices.
All three properties are vacant, free of leases and being offered free and clear of debt, allowing buyers to immediately pursue redevelopment plans, according to marketing materials.
The largest property is the former Sears store at Brass Mill Center in Waterbury, which totals 152,149 square feet on 10.33 acres. The building includes two retail levels totaling about 130,000 square feet, along with a 22,120-square-foot auto center.
At Meriden Mall, the former Sears building and auto center encompass 121,141 square feet on 7.74 acres.
The former Sears property at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in Manchester totals 146,707 square feet on 10.12 acres, with retail space split between two levels.
Atlantic Capital Partners describes the properties as redevelopment opportunities because of their locations within established regional shopping centers and near major highways.
The listings come as former department store buildings across the country continue to be repurposed into uses ranging from healthcare facilities and entertainment venues to mixed-use developments, industrial space and housing.
Atlantic Capital Partners didn’t respond to a request for more details about the potential sales.
