Three YouthBuild programs in Hartford and Bridgeport will receive grants totaling $1.76 million from the U.S. Labor Department, the government said today.
Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis announced the award of approximately $114 million to 183 community groups to provide education and training to young people across the United States.
 The YouthBuild program helps young school dropouts obtain their diplomas or GEDs while learning a skill building and renovating affordable housing within their communities
In Hartford, Community Renewal Team Inc. will receive $463,620 for Capital City YouthBuild; and Co-Opportunity Inc. in Hartford will receive $687,500 for YouthBuild Hartford.
The Workplace Inc. in Bridgeport will receive $604,846 for YouthBuild Bridgeport. (AP)
