Three CT cities get $7.7M for lead-paint removal

Hartford, Bridgeport and New London will share $7.7 million in federal money to clean up lead paint and other health hazards in urban housing, authorities say.

Hartford is getting $4.5 milion as its share of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funds.

Bridgeports gets $3.1 million and New London collects $200,482, HUD said.

Nationally, HUD awarded nearly $127 million to remove lead-based paint from more than 11,000 homes and train workers and educate the public about lead safety.
