Mark A. Thompson, senior vice president for academic and student affairs at Quinnipiac University, has been promoted to the newly created position of executive vice president/provost at the Hamden school. He then becomes operations chief in six months.
Effective July 1, 2013, Thompson becomes COO with broad authority and responsibility for internal operations, including academic affairs, student affairs, athletics, public safety, facilities and information technology, President
Thompson has held the position of senior vice president for academic and student affairs since 2008. Before that, he spent five years as dean of the School of Business. He joined the university in 1998 as associate dean of the School of Business.
Thompson earned his doctorate in economics at Georgia State University. He also holds a MBA from Western New England University and a bachelor’s degree in economics/finance from Bentley College. He and his wife, Karyn, and their two daughters live in Cheshire.
