Thompson cardboard manufacturer Norampac New England has agreed to pay a $100,000 fine for alleged violations of the federal Clean Water Act.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency this summer alleged Norampac violated the conditions of its stormwater permit and failed to fully implement its spill prevention plan, including not conducting inspections or making changes after spills were made.
The $100,000 fine was one of two EPA levied this week against Norampac’s parent company, Cascades USA. The other was a $65,000 fine for clean water violations at Cascades Auburn Fiber pulp mill in Maine.
