Greenwich-based GXO Logistics Inc. announced a new agreement with a startup that creates human-like robots capable of performing tasks in GXO’s warehouses across the country.
Under the agreement with Reflex Robotics, GXO will pilot the robots for deployment into live operations.
Reflex, based in New York and San Francisco, develops general-purpose robots to automate repetitive work at warehouses and factories.
The robots can begin working after 60 minutes of deployment and become fully autonomous by “learning” from human demonstrations over time, according to the announcement.
“The multi-purpose humanoid from Reflex can transition seamlessly between repetitive tasks, from tote transfers between other kinds of automation to product picking,” the announcement states.
This is GXO’s second Robots-as-a-Service agreement.
The company said its long-term objective is to deploy Reflex robots across its operations, “easing capacity constraints and enabling GXO’s team members to take on more fulfilling roles.”
GXO has 130,000 employees across more than 970 facilities totaling about 200 million square feet.
