Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. named The Home Depot’s general counsel Teresa Wynn Roseborough to a seat on the property-casualty insurer’s board, effective April 1.
Roseborough, 56, is also the Atlanta home-improvement retailer’s executive vice president and corporate secretary. She will serve on the board’s nominating and corporate governance committee and its finance, investment and risk management committee, the Hartford insurer announced Thursday.
Once she is seated, four of The Hartford’s 11 directors will be female, a spokesman said.
“Teresa is a seasoned executive who brings significant business, regulatory, compliance, risk management and corporate governance expertise to our board,” The Hartford’s Chairman and CEO Christopher Swift. “Her insurance background and government experience will strengthen The Hartford’s ability to innovate and grow, delivering value for shareholders.”
Roseborough previously held several legal positions at MetLife, including senior chief counsel and deputy general counsel. Before that, she was as a partner with the law firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP and a deputy assistant attorney general for the U.S. Department of Justice. She also served as a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
She was named one of 25 Influential Black Women in Business by The Network Journal and as one of America’s top black attorneys by Black Enterprise magazine.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, a master’s in education from Boston University, and a law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
