The Rent’s new menu will blitz UConn-Mich. fans

UConn has a full plate heading into Saturday’s inaugural football matchup against Michigan at East Hartford’s Rentschler Field – and we’re not talking about the game.

Rentschler’s facility operator, Global Spectrum, and its Ovations Food Services unit, announced Wednesday an expanded food menu and seven new concession stands are in place for the soldout game.

Ovation’s Rentschler General Manager Charles Tillem says the expanded menu now features a variety of specialty hotdogs, including ones topped with lobster macaroni and cheese; fried chicken tenders and wings; pulled barbecue pork and chicken sandwiches; sandwich wraps; and tamales, among other additions.

“This is just one more step in our efforts to improve stadium operations,” says Kim Hart, venue director for the Capital Region Development Authority.

Global Spectrum also manages the XL Center in downtown Hartford.
