The Lee Company will become a third generation family-owned business later this year with the appointment of a new CEO, who is the granddaughter of the firm’s founder.
Westbrook-based The Lee Company, a manufacturer of miniature precision fluid control products, announced this month that Marietta S. Lee will become president and chief executive officer on July 10. She’ll take over for her uncle William “Bill” W. Lee, who will retire as president and CEO but remain chairman of the company’s board of directors.
Marietta Lee will be The Lee Company’s first female president and CEO, the company said. She’s not new to the family business, though — she first joined the manufacturer in 2001 and has served in roles such as assistant facilities manager, facilities manager, executive vice president, and coo.
The July 10 appointment falls on the 75th anniversary of the company’s founding. At the start of the year the company announced a new policy that employees will not have to pay any monthly medical plan premium for their existing Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan.
