Mission: The Lea’s Foundation mission is to raise money to fund research into the causes and cures for leukemia and cancers such as lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, which are all directly related to leukemia. In addition to funding research, the foundation also provides limited financial assistance to those patients affected by leukemia and other blood related diseases.
Background: The Lea’s Foundation was founded in 1998 to honor Lea Michele Economos who was 28 years old when she lost her battle with leukemia. It was her dying wish that no one else would suffer the pain of this disease so she started a Foundation that would be dedicated to finding a cure.
Major Fundraiser: 17th Annual Valentine’s Day Ball on Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.
Volunteer Needs: The Lea’s Foundation is always looking for dedicated volunteers. If you are interested and would like further information please contact Carla Sgro at (860) 727-9889.
