ING in Windsor has recruited veteran Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. actuary Greg Mateja to run its risk integration desk. Friday is his first day on the job, ING says.
Mateja leads the integrated analysis of ING’s risks, including asset-liability management, economic capital, risk appetite and strategic risk management. His boss is ING’s U.S. Chief Risk Officer Prakash Shimpi.
A 30-year insurance industry veteran, Mateja spent 17 years in various executive slots at The Hartford, most recently as vice president overseeing mergers and acquisitions, and a range of risk-management and capital-management initiatives.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Economics Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
