The Hartford taps Eknaian as chief actuary of wealth management division

The Hartford Financial Services Group has tapped George Eknaian as chief actuary of the firm’s newly named Wealth Management division.

In his new role, Eknaian will lead the risk and asset-liability management functions and drive the development of actuarial capabilities in support of The Hartford’s Wealth Management businesses.

He will report to Dave Levenson, who was recently named president of Wealth Management, and Chris Swift, The Harford’s chief financial officer.

“I am excited to have someone with George’s expertise and experience in this very important position,” said Levenson.  “George understands risk management extremely well and will be a great resource to our business leaders as we look for opportunities to prudently grow Wealth Management in the coming years.”

Eknaian first joined The Hartford in 1997 and spent two years directing the pricing and product development for the firm’s institutional business.

He then joined Citigroup-Travelers Life and Annuity, holding a number of key roles including chief corporate actuary.

Eknaian returned to The Hartford in 2006 as director of structured settlement product management and, in 2008, became head of Enterprise Risk Management for the firm’s global variable annuity business.
