The Hartford Financial Services Group said it has signed a $500 million technology services agreement with IBM that the insurer says will improve its operations and competitiveness.
The six-year agreement will move The Hartford’s systems to private cloud-based infrastructure, which means employees will access programs and applications stored on company-controlled servers that are not accessible to the public.
IBM touts its PureFlex System as a way to reduce energy, management and software licensing costs.
The Hartford and IBM will also create a joint innovation committee to collaborate on strategic technology initiatives.
