Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has hired a former Phoenix Cos. manager to run its Dallas and Houston life insurance sales offices, the Dallas Business Journal reports.
In his new position, Thomas Rutledge of Dallas will manage dozens of Hartford account executives working in Texas, the newspaper reports on its Web site.
Rutledge brings with him 20 years of experience in sales and sales management. He most recently served The Phoenix as regional managing director, the DBJ said.
The move comes as The Hartford is working on the launch of an aggressive plan to grow sales from banks and warehouses to independent agent channels, the company said.

To date, Hartford has 200 account executives, the DBJ said.
