The Hartford gives $300K to Asylum Hill girls

Young females predominately in Hartford’s Asylum Hill are the beneficiaries of a $300,000 grant to a neighborhood shelter from Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.

The Hartford is contributing to the Shelter for Women run by the Village for Families & Children.

The grant will be distributed over three years to fund the Community Life Programs for Girls at the Center for Family Life at Gray Lodge.

The grant is part of the property-casualty and wealth management giant’s 2010 pledge to commit $7 million to revitalize the Asylum Hill neighborhood where its headquarters is an anchor.
