Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. is celebrating Arbor Day with the planting of $25,000 worth of trees near its Asylum Hill headquarters campus in the city’s midtown neighborhood.
The Hartford is partnering with the city, Knox Parks and local volunteers by planting 50 trees on Asylum Hill funded by the insurer’s grant to Knox Parks.
Volunteers and residents planted 33 new trees on Niles and Laurel Streets earlier this month and are planting 17 trees Friday in Sigourney Square Park.
The Hartford’s grant is part of its partnership with the city and the Asylum Hill neighborhood to contribute $7 million over five years to key revitalization projects and strategic partnerships for education, community support and neighborhood revitalization.
