The Fund’s Kate Miller retiring in June

Kate Miller is retiring after 15 years as executive director of The Fund for Greater Hartford, which oversees Camp Courant among other community outreach activities.

Her last day is June 15, The Fund announced Thursday.

“Kate has spent the past 15 years as a champion for children and families in greater Hartford, an example of personal and professional integrity, and a steadfast steward for the philanthropic community in our region and state,” said Jan-Gee McCollam, president of The Fund’s board of trustees.

Formerly known as The Hartford Courant Foundation, it started in 1950 as a corporate foundation and became independent in 1980.

In 2010, the board changed the name to The Fund for Greater Hartford better reflected the scope of its service to the community.

During Miller’s tenure, the foundation has distributed more than $10 million in grants to the greater Hartford area during her tenure as executive director, McCollam said.

In 2012, Miller received the Martha S. Newman Award from the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy.

“I have been privileged to work with The Fund and the non-profit community it serves for the last 15 years,” Miller said in a statement. “While I will miss the day-to-day contact with all my wonderful colleagues, I am looking forward to my next chapter.”

A search for Miller’s successor is planned, a spokeswoman said.
