Another national retailer has announced plans to close its location in The Corbin Collection shopping center in West Hartford.
Saks Off 5th, a discount version of Saks Fifth Avenue, said last week it will close nine stores nationwide, including the store at 1437 New Britain Ave. in West Hartford.
The other eight Saks Off 5th stores closing include three in Pennsylvania and one each in Chicago, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Washington D.C. All of the stores are set to close in January.
Saks Off 5th operates approximately 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
The announcement by Saks Off 5th comes just over a year after Buybuy BABY — a national retailer that offers baby gear, furniture, clothing, toys and other supplies — announced plans in October 2024 to close all of its brick-and-mortar stores, including one at 1433 New Britain Ave.
Buybuy BABY’s 19,053-square-foot retail space at The Corbin Collection is still being offered for lease.
The Corbin Collection, owned by Maryland-based national real estate investment and management company First Washington Realty, includes three separate properties totaling 153,400 square feet.
The retail center has tenants that include REI, Shake Shack, Tavern in the Square, Ivy Rehab and Olive Garden, and is adding Level99, a challenge-based indoor “playground,” restaurant and bar.
