St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center has received a $1.5 million grant from the Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation to benefit the hospital’s Breast Health Center. The Breast Health Center will be named after the Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation, a West Hartford nonprofit organization that donates to groups, mostly in Connecticut, that further education, medicine and the arts.

Bloomfield-based Foodshare received a $30,000 grant from the Lincoln Financial Foundation to support the nonprofit’s Fight Hunger at the Holidays campaign and year-round food distribution.
The funding will help Foodshare meet the immediate food needs of hungry individuals in Greater Hartford, helping to ensure that needy families can have a traditional Thanksgiving meal as well as food throughout the year. Foodshare distributes more than 12 million meals annually to 300 local nonprofit organizations.

The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has awarded more than $177,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations and programs serving Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington, including more than $30,000 in grants to boost early childhood development as part of the Foundation’s signature First Years First initiative.
The Foundation has made $477,680 in year-to-date grants throughout its four-town service area. A third and final round of grants will be awarded at year’s end.

The Rite Aid Foundation presented a $10,000 KidCents grant to Hartford nonprofit Covenant to Care for Children.
The donation will allow Covenant to Care for Children to deliver goods to children who have been abused, neglected and/or impoverished.
