The president of the Board of Regents for Higher Education has appointed Michael Gargano as provost and senior vice president for academic and student affairs at the 17 colleges and universities in the state system, according to an announcement.
Gargano is vice president for academics, faculty, and student affairs, as well as dean ad interim, for the School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
In his new role, he will oversee development of academic programs, financial aid, research and other matters.
He starts work March 21.
