Tesla’s first electric vehicle showroom in Connecticut, located at Mohegan Sun, is set to open Wednesday.
A ribbon-cutting event with officials from Mohegan Sun, Tesla and community groups is slated for 11 a.m.
It is the first Tesla showroom in the state that offers sales and delivery of vehicles. There is also a Tesla showroom in Milford, but it does not sell vehicles.
The new Tesla dealership is located in The Shops at Mohegan Sun, a 130,000-square-foot shopping center near the casino and its restaurants and entertainment venues.
Tesla has been trying for several years to make inroads in Connecticut, but has faced stiff opposition from auto dealers. State law forbids motor vehicle manufacturers from selling their products directly to customers, which is the business model Tesla relies on.
