A for-profit Tennessee mental health provider wants to establish a facility to treat young adults who obsessively use electronic devices to interact with gaming, gambling and pornography websites.
Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare has applied to the Office of Health Strategy to invest $1.2 million to build the Greenfield Center, and hopes to begin work on it in January. While it has selected a name, Odyssey said it has not yet selected a location.
Odyssey has behavioral health facilities in its home state, Florida, Alabama and Indiana, according to its website, but none listed in the Northeast.
OHS determined last week that Odyssey would be required to go through the state’s “certificate of need” process for establishing a new facility.
