The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection has selected Immanuel Smyrnow, 10, for the cover of the 2015 Connecticut Angler’s Guide.
This is the second year DEEP has held a contest to determine the cover of its Angler’s Guide. Last year, Andrea Repko of Norwalk was on the cover of the guide.
Smyrnow’s winning photo shows him holding an Atlantic salmon he caught and released on Oct. 30 in the Shetucket River. His salmon weighed 6 pounds and was 26 inches long. Smyrnow lives in Ashford.
The distribution of the guide is scheduled for mid-March.
Other finalists for this year’s contest were Kristina Akers & Raymond Lass of Bristol; Zakkary Wallace from Stratford; Cassie Ganio from Litchfield; Ron Merly from Bridgeport; and Gabby Ferraiolo in Clinton.
