As technology has evolved, how have you made your Web site more user friendly for customers to do business with you?
The purpose of the Web site is to provide information on our company, organized in a way that is both precise and intuitive. There are a broad range of reasons why a potential client accesses our Web site — it is important we understand what they want to find and make it accessible and flexible. We are not just selling services and products; we are forging relationships, which is why people are on the forefront of every page.
How has Web-based communications changed the way you communicate with your employees?
We don’t use Web-based communications as a direct conduit with our employees since we are all in one location and still believe in the value of face-to-face communication. However, our Web site establishes the identity of our employees and empowers them with the knowledge that they are a critical component to our success with our clients.
What is the Web technology level of expectation of your customers or clients and how have you met them?
Our clients expect a dynamic, versus static, Web site with strong flow and movement. Navigation should be intuitive, images strong. Additionally, flash technology, which incorporates movement and animation to create interest has become the normal expectation within our client base.
Is e-advertising something you presently use for your business or see your company using in the future?
We have implemented e-advertising for the facility management innovations division of our company and are presently implementing an e-Communiqué focused on keeping our clients informed on new technologies and delivery methods for our architectural and design services.
Do you blog or use any social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) presently, and do you see any useful business applications for your company?
We have been using LinkedIn for our social networking as we recognize the importance of social sites to increase our networking and business opportunities. We are in the early exploratory process of looking at other possible sites.
