Infosys, the India-based tech giant with a hub in Hartford, increased its hiring commitment in the U.S., announcing the company now seeks to employ 25,000 people in the country by 2023.
Infosys had, in 2017, committed to hire 10,000 people to staff its U.S. operations. The company currently has about 13,000 employees in the U.S.Â
About 200 employees were working out of the Goodwin Building in downtown Hartford before the COVID-19 pandemic led about 93% of Infosys’ global workforce to work from home, Jeff Auker, head of technology and innovation at the Infosys Hartford hub, said in May.
An Infosys spokesperson said the company hasn’t determined how many more employees in Connecticut — or any other states in which it operates — it plans to hire as part of the announced two-year hiring spree.
As of May, the company employed about 500 people in Connecticut, and had committed to hire 1,000 employees in Connecticut by 2023.Â
