Tech entrepreneur makes cyber-crime documentary

The principal of a Hamden technology services company has made a documentary film on cyber crime.

Peter Verlezza, managing partner of SMB Networks LLC, has teamed up with nine peers from across the U.S. and Canada and a film producer from Los Angeles to make Cyber Crime, a documentary film about “a growing plague in our digital world.”

The film is expected to be screened at select movie theaters nationwide in May.

Directed by documentary filmmaker Jeff Roldan (Words of Art, Miracles in Action), Cyber Crime explores the world of cyber crime and its impact on businesses and individuals. Roldan and Verlezza are co-producers of the work.

Featuring commentary from ten experts in the cyber-security field, Cyber Crime takes an in-depth look into the world of identity theft, the so-called dark web and web crime. According to the filmmakers, these experts share stories, experiences and secrets to staying and playing safe both online and in the real world.

“This film highlights the importance of the threat of cyber crime today,” said Verlezza. “We are all connected everywhere all the time. The threats are real and can affect anyone that is connected to the internet with devices that range from a smartphone to a laptop computer or late model car.”

“This documentary is meant to raise viewers’ awareness of the threat landscape and empower people with knowledge to help them be more responsible with this privilege we call technology,” Verlezza added.

Verlezza’s company, SMB Networks, LLC, provides network and computer services and support as well as IT and medical-technology consulting to companies in New Haven, Fairfield and Hartford counties.
