Taxes, skills concern for manufacturers

Concerns over the sustainability of a skilled workforce, economic conditions and the cost of doing business are all plaguing Connecticut manufacturers, according to a survey of the state’s businesses by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association. The highest hurdle is the cost of doing business in the state, with 54 percent of respondents citing health care benefits as the biggest burden. Twenty-three percent surveyed said the state’s corporate income tax is a concern, as is the personal income tax.
