Task force finds mission taxing

A Hartford task force, originally given about three months to find solutions for the city’s property tax structure, will ask for an extension tonight at the City Council meeting. Richard Wareing, chairman of the task force, said the group is seeking a two-tiered deadline: Dec. 31 for recommendations that might end up before the General Assembly, and Jan. 31 for suggestions on the city’s internal workings. The task force, which is made up of business leaders and residents, was assembled in September after skyrocketing property taxes for Hartford’s small businesses became controversial.
