Talent shortage tops list of biz concerns

Talent shortage has officially trumped rising health care costs as the most pressing concern among employers, according to a survey by Deloitte Consulting.

Almost three-quarters of the 413 human resources professionals surveyed cited talent as their top concern. And the number of professionals who cited health costs as a top five concern was down from 80 percent to 71 percent this year.

Other leading issues included: willingness of employees to pay for an increasing portion of benefit plan coverage and to manage their own reward budget, with 58 percent of the vote; clear alignment of total rewards strategy with business strategy and brand, with 56 percent; and demonstrating appropriate return on investment for reward expenditures, with 42 percent.
