Synchrony names new digital chief, technology leader in executive reshuffle

Stamford-based Synchrony, a consumer financial services company that provides credit cards, financing and banking products, has announced a series of executive leadership changes, including a new head of its digital business and a new chief technology officer.

Carol Juel has been named executive vice president and CEO of Synchrony’s digital platform, succeeding Bart Schaller, who is retiring after a 35-year career with the company. Juel previously served as executive vice president and chief technology and operating officer.

In her new role, Juel will oversee the company’s digital consumer financing partnerships, including relationships with Amazon, PayPal, Venmo and Verizon.

Synchrony also promoted Florin Arghirescu to executive vice president and chief technology officer. He will oversee the company’s technology strategy, engineering operations and artificial intelligence initiatives.

In addition, DJ Casto has been named executive vice president and chief people and operations officer. Along with continuing to lead human resources, he will assume responsibility for operations, including servicing, collections and customer care.

All three executives will report to President and CEO Brian Doubles.
