The bankruptcy close-out of the Syms-Filene’s Basement off-price chain starts Wednesday, with more than $100 million of inventory being liquidated at 39 stores — two of them in Connecticut.
Boston liquidator Gordon Brothers Group is overseeing the bankruptcy-court approved close-out, authorities say. The sale continues until all merchandise and store fixtures have been sold.
There 19 Syms and 14 Filene’s Basements, plus another six combination Syms-Filene’s Basement outlets, in 12 states and Washington D.C.
Aside from the 267 Berlin Turnpike store in Berlin, Syms/Filene’s Basement also operates a store at 652 Commerce Drive in Fairfield.
